Artist Bio

Mary believes that the pleasure to be gained from good food is visual as much as through flavour. She always places emphasis on the arrangement and presentation of her food, from the single portion to its relationship with the whole.

The way to capture the impermanence of the visual pleasure came naturally to Mary. Through her love of colour, design and painting it was an instinctive step to bring her two passions together. Her still life paintings are a lasting record of the pleasure Mary’s food gave to herself and many others.

Mary and Steve. The Caterers ran as a catering business in North Carlton for 40 years. They catered for large groups from 30 to 1000, usually in workplaces, often in impersonal situations. The food and its presentation created a convivial and pleasingly aesthetic atmosphere for those present.
